CCCT has a great summer opportunity for your young people! Our Theatre Camps offer students a fun and safe environment to learn theater basics including: scenic crafts, movement and acting skills – all culminating in performances that are open to the community. It’s a wonderful way to build confidence and learn how to collaborate with others. This year we are offering two summer camps – session I for ages 5 – 14 and session II for students 12-18. Our sessions run concurrently July 9 through August 11. Both groups finish with public performances at CCCT. Session I students will work on a stage adaptation of the beloved children’s book “The Phantom Tollbooth” while Session II will produce the popular musical “Schoolhouse Rock Live! Jr.”
Session I – The Phantom Tollbooth
July 9 – August 11, Classes meet Monday through Friday 8:30am – 11:30am
Performances: Wednesday – Saturday August 8 – 11th at 11:00AM
Designed for younger theatre students. Students will learn theatre basics including movement and acting skills all culminating in morning performances that are open to the community. Our 2018 session I production is based on The Phantom Toll Booth by Susan Nanus. Our production is a stage version of the classic children’s book by Norton Juster. “The PhantomTollbooth”is presented by special arrangement with SAMUEL FRENCH, INC.
The Story: Here are Milo’s adventures in the Land of Wisdom, where he’s forced to think about many new things. Milo learns of the argument between King Azaz and his brother, the Mathemagician, whose disagreement over words and numbers has led to the banishment of Princesses Sweet Rhyme and Pure Reason. Milo is dispatched to rescue the princesses from the Land of Ignorance. The knowledge and skills Milo picks up on his journey help him to save the princesses. When he must return home, Milo’s sorry to leave his friends – but enriched by his experience, he realizes his attitude toward learning will never be the same.
Registration will remain open until July 11th or until the maximum enrollment is reached. Session Fee: $250.
Public Performances: Wednesday – Saturday August 8 – 11th at 11:00AM. Tickets are just $7.00 For groups of ten or more $5.00 each.
Session II – Schoolhouse Rock Live! Jr.
Our 2018 Session II summer theatre camp will be held July 9th through August 11 and is designed for students ages 12 through 18. Classes meet Monday through Friday from Noon-3:00PM.
Tuition is $375.00. Geared towards theatre students with some experience, Session 2 will hone acting, singing and movement and dance skills. The session will end with pubic performances at CCCT.
SHOOLHOUSE ROCK LIVE – JR. Originally conceived and directed by Scott Ferguson Book by Scott Ferguson,Kyle Hall, George Keating Music and Lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, Bob Dorough, Dave Frishberg, Kathy Mandry, George Newall and Tom Yohe.
Based on the ever-popular, award-winning 1970s cartoons, this fast-paced musical teaches lessons with clever, catchy tunes. This energetic musical, follows Tom, a young schoolteacher, who is nervous about his first day of teaching. He tries to relax by watching TV, when various characters representing facets of his personality emerge from the set and show him how to win his students over with imagination and music. Memorable songs as “Just a Bill,” “Lolly, Lolly, Lolly” and “Conjunction Junction” bring his lesson plans vividly to life.
“Schoolhouse Rock Live! Jr” is presented by special arrangement with Musican Theatre International (MTI). Public Performances: Thursday through Saturday August 9th – 11th at 7:00PM and Sunday, August 12th at 2:30PM
General admission tickets are $10.00 each with special group pricing for parties of 10 or more at $7.00 each.
